Saw some first images of the Wachowski’s Speed Racer, which I’m looking forward to taking my niece Nicole to see. First impressions – Christina Ricci as Trixie looks too goth, John Goodman is too fat, and Racer X’s racing suit and mask look terrible. If they fuck up Rex Racer they’ve fucked up the whole movie, but I’m sure the effects will be cool.
Thinking back, did you ever notice that the Mach 5 could rumble off a mountain and bounce all the way down crashing hundreds of times against it’s rock face and still wind up looking immaculately undented? I hope there are scenes of it driving underwater and sawing down trees.
