While it was true that Dave usually looked way cooler than Ray in the ’60s, he doesn’t seem to remember that Ray’s “Dedicated Follower of Fashion” was more of an insult than a tribute.

“Dave claims he and late bassist Pete Quaife were the real dedicated followers of fashion, while the band’s celebrated songwriter Ray and drummer Mick Avory, both 67, made “poor” choices when it came to their Sixties attire.

“I was really into fashion,” says 64-year-old Dave, who is promoting his new solo compilation Hidden Treasures.

He adds to Uncut magazine: “Me and Pete were really clued in on what to wear, whereas Ray and Mick were a bit clumsy in fashion. Some people, no matter what they wear, don’t look cool.” Ouch.
