So sad just heard that Pat Dinizio has passed. He made the Maynard G Krebs look cool again. Wonderful voice. Wonderful Songwriter. Was hoping I’d get to see them open for Dave Davies, but that won’t happen now. Saw the Smithereens live in the mid-80s at Northwestern. Loved everything except Pat singing frown instead of smile during the Who’s Seeker (frown was already implied I’m neurotic). Saw a clip of them recently and noticed that he’d gained a lot of weight and had some money and health issues. Too sad – so talented. They did an entire cover album of Meet the Beatles. I loved hearing him sing anything.
