The new Entertainment Weekly proclaims that “Magic is Bruce Springsteen’s best album since the River.”
I haven’t heard it so maybe it’s true but:
Someone called every album Bob Dylan recorded in the ’80s his best since Blood on the Tracks. Someone called every album the Stones recorded in the last 20 years their best since Some Girls. Someone has called every album Paul McCartney has recorded in the last 20 years his best since Band on the Run. Usually when someone says this it means that the artists recent work has sucked and when their next album comes out I’ll forget that I gave this one a good review.
