The Dave Clark Five somehow were just chosen for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It’s an absurd choice. Styx belongs in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as much as the Dave Clark Five. They innovated nothing. They influenced no one. Their music evolved not at all. It’s just a joke. My only guess is that Dave Clark has done well as a businessman and owns a lot of television rights to a lot of rock performances and may have some influence. Other than that I’m stumped. I’ve long mocked people like Chubby Checker and Don McLean, who delusionally think that they belong. With the Five’s induction, maybe they are right.
