Tiger Woods: 19 and Beyond

Well, my daddy, he didn’t leave me much, you know he was a very simple man, but what he did tell me was this.

He did say, son, he said … he say, you know it’s possible to become so defiled in this world that your own father and mother will abandon you and if that happens;

God will always believe in your ability to mend your ways.

Bob Dylan 1991

Who knows why we lose focus? Our original goals may have never been chosen for us.

You can win the world and lose your soul.

I know only one thing. Tiger doesn’t lose on Sundays when he has the lead.

He’ll shoot what he needs to shoot to win. He doesn’t care if that’s a 61 or a 67 or a 78. He just wins when he’s up on Sunday. He’s now up on Sunday.

If he’s focused and his body is willing. He’ll win. If he loses; he’ll be back.

He knows his father raised him to be the greatest golfer of all time. He may not be happy about that. He may be grateful for that.

He knows it’s not dollars.

It’s not titles.

It’s not made cuts.

It’s not save percentage.

It’s not greens in regulation.

It’s not winning percentage.

It’s Jack has 18and he doesn’t.

Once he gets 19? Who knows.

If there is a 30-foot putt on the last green? I’ll take even money he hits it if he needs to in order to win it.

If he’s up four with a seven-foot putt it may take 3 to get there, but he will use three if that is what it takes.

I don’t care what substances he did or did not take. I don’t care who he did or did not sleep with. I don’t care if he’s happy.

Earl raised a winner.

Yeah, I’m shallow.

I don’t watch on Friday or Saturday.

I rarely watch on Sunday, unless Tiger is within six or so. If he’s within four with two holes left, I’ll turn it on.

I root for greatness.

Greatness comes on Sunday.

Tiger is up on Sunday.

I’m not betting against Tiger Woods up on Sunday.
