Won’t you please, please love me?

It’s kind of a drag how easy it is to get song lyrics now. Back in the day, you’d have to play something over and over again and have no idea what they were saying. Yes, and the original Walkman was the size of a refrigerator – I must be getting old.

By the way Elvis singing “Love Me” above on the Ed Sullivan show – that remains as cool as it is possible to get. If you look and sound like that, Nancy Reagan will sleep with you right in the middle of her “Just say no” campaign.

“oh, yeah” is also always a good way to end a song.

Jim Morrison singing “all right, yeah” in “People Are Strange” is supposed to be his homage to Elvis. See, Morrison can see poetry when he sees it. Yeah, all right, uh huh – all part of the poetry of Elvis. If a mistake sounds cool, leave it in.

Be sure to check out how innocent he sounds until he throws in those bass notes just to let you know how dangerous he is.

People always mock the parents of their day for being so silly as to think the world was coming to an end when Elvis hit the scene. The world wasn’t coming to an end, but frankly I’d lock in all my womenfolk immediately too!

Treat me like a fool,
Treat me mean and cruel,
But love me.

Break my faithful heart,
Tear it all apart,
But love me.

If you ever go,
Darling, I’ll be oh so lonely
I’ll be sad and blue,
Crying over you, dear only.

I would beg and steal
Just to feel your heart
Beatin’ close to mine

Well, if you ever go,
Darling, I’ll be oh so lonely
I’ll be sad and blue,
Crying over you, dear only.

I would beg and steal
Just to feel your heart
Beatin’ close to mine

Well, if you ever go,
Darling, I’ll be oh so lonely
Beggin’ on my knees,
All I ask is please, please love me
Oh yeah
