I don’t have anything of great intellect to say about this guy and his photos, but he did more with just black and white than anyone that I’ve ever encountered. Most of his famous shots are of classic Jazz artists and they’re all definitive especially the ones where the air is filled with curling cigarette smoke.

A photographer friend of mine told me that the method he used to develop his photos was chemically dangerous and not used anymore, but stuff like this is worth shaving off a few years.
