Being shy can be crippling. Some people who are shy become incredibly kind and accomodating. Some become petulant, Ty Cobb was like this, as if everyone who he didn’t know was looking right through them. I’m sort of weird. When I’m uncomfortable I either shut down and stay quiet or I perform and try to be the life of the party, neither is very effective.
